In the past, I never thought I’d move to Manhattan. New York City was dirty. It smelled. People were rude and looking out for themselves. They spent too much time trying to re-create a persona they’d seen on television, in the movies or read about in books. Manhattan was a place filled with Woody Allen, Carrie Bradshaw, Bob Dylan and Andy Warhol wanna-be’s. You could never be yourself if you lived in Manhattan - you were always pretending to be someone else.
